Mangotsfield United….4 Paulton Rovers…1
The benefits of being able to keep an unchanged side, were apparent as Mangotsfield swept to their third win in succession, whilst scoring 14 goals in the process. The confidence was there from the start and after Chris Peck had tested young keeper Adam Forster with a low drive, the hosts took a 12th minute lead through Keith Kearney. His low left-footed drive, across the goal, found the far corner. 1-0.
Paulton responded with a header from Trey Anderson which was well wide, and the hosts continued to threaten thanks to the probing runs of Tom Hillman, and the pace of James Ollis. Keeper Adam Forster was forced to a full-length save from Tom Hillman, but spilled the ball which ran across the face of the goalmouth, with no one able to supply a finish.
Mitch Tippins tested Marko Radovanovic with a dipping volley from 25 yards but the keeper just tipped the ball over the top.
A free-kick from Tom Hillman was dangerously close, and as we came to the interval Dan Demkiv saw his snap volley flash past the far post and Lee Hartshorn drew a fine save from Adam Forster.
Marko Radovanovic was again brought into action as another long-distance volley saw him just claw the ball from under the crossbar.
The hosts clearly needed a second goal to underline their superiority and it came just a minute after the hour, following a good move involving James Ollis & Chris Peck, and lastly Tom Hillman, who sent in a searing 25 yard drive which gave Adam Forster no chance. 2-0.
Within two minutes, Mangotsfield, more or less, sealed the game through Lee Hartshorn who finished off a move involving James Ollis & Dan Demkiv.
Paulton were back in the game briefly in the 65th minute when they were awarded a penalty following a push from Keith Kearney. Jack Ball put the spot-kick away. 3-1.
In the 71st minute, substitute Jake Thomas was on the scoresheet as he found the net following a great delivery from Tom Hillman. 4-1.
With the game in the final stages, Marko Radovanovic again made a superb save, this time from a rising drive from ex-Mango, Liam Monelle.
A comfortable victory then ahead of the last two games of the season. A very tough trip to Cirencester on Easter Monday and next Saturday's home clash with AFC Totton.
