Britton hits hat-trick!

Mangotsfield United….5 Fleet Town…3
With both sides at the foot of the table, Mangotsfield desperately needed a victory, but the early stages all pointed to a Fleet Town win. After just six minutes ‘The Blues’ were ahead when Meshack Williams stabbed home from 6 yards after keeper Joe Perry had blocked a low drive but could not hold on to the ball. 0-1.
Then in the 14th minute, just as the hosts were trying to come to terms with the game, Fleet struck again through Joe Wilson who found the far corner from the right-hand side of the area, with a low drive. 0-2.
Chris Peck had gone close with near-post header, and James Ollis had tried his luck from distance. Fleet were looking dangerous and the probing runs of Meshack Williams caused the hosts’ defence to look fragile. However, on 34 minutes, Louis Britton ran onto a ball down the left side and fired home a low drive from 20 yards. 1-2.
Moments later, Lee Hartshorn flashed an overhead volley goalwards, only to see defender Sam Williams head off the line, and in the last moments before the break, Fleet had two good chances to have increased the lead. Bradley Wilson blazed over when faced with an open goal, and then keeper Joe Perry made an instinctive save with his legs.
Manager Ollie Price’s half-time substitution with James Bloom making way for Lewis Ellington, worked almost immediately. It was Ellington who skipped down the left, three minutes after the break, and delivered a low cross, which was eventually turned home by Joseph Hall. It was his first for the club. 2-2.
Six minutes later, Ellington repeated the move, only this time, it was Louis Britton who took advantage to find the net with a low drive. 3-2.
The game had been turned on its head, but Fleet came back to test keeper Joe Perry, who was forced into a fine stop from a Danilo Cadete header.
The hosts pushed forward with James Ollis and Dan Demkiv working well with Louis Britton, who completed his hat-trick in the 63rd minute as he brushed aside the close attentions of his marker to fire home under the Blues keeper Harvey White. 4-2.
James Ollis grabbed his first goal for the club after 72 minutes, beating keeper Harvey White with a low drive from 15 yards, inside his left-hand post. 5-2.
Lewis Ellington was unlucky with a fierce drive on target, before ‘The Field’ were reduced to ten men, when Matty Tanner was shown a straight red in the 78th minute. His challenge was deemed dangerous by the referee, although there certainly seemed no intent on his part. Mangotsfield saw out the remaining 12 minutes, plus 7 minutes of added time comfortably, although Fleet had no intention of giving up and they scored a third in the 89th minute through Enow Ojong, as he caught out Joe Perry at the far post. 5-3.
A very vital three points against their fellow relegation-threatened strugglers. We shall see just how important they are at the end of April. The dismal poor home form of the whole season has been banished with TEN goals from the last two games and a certain Louis Britton bagging EIGHT of them!!
*Jordan Williams has opted to join Thatcham Town. He is the fourth player this season to join the Berkshire based club. (Adam Kelly, Sonnie Low, Kyle Tooze, being the others)*
