Match report by Ron Loftus
A swift return to earth following the dizzy heights reached in the previous game, saw the 'Field suffer a disappointing defeat in Somerset on Saturday. The absence of both Lee Hartshorn and Clayton Fortune left Ollie Price having to re-shuffle the defensive line-up yet again.
The game was only 11 minutes old when a free-kick from the right touchline was met by striker George King who was given the freedom of the penalty area to guide a free header past Joe Perry to put our hosts ahead. 1-0.
We struggled to contain Street's wide players and when no.Oscar Latas cut inside from the left to strike a powerful shot goalwards it was only an acrobatic tip over by Joe Perry that prevented a second goal. We were second best in the middle of the park but managed to go into the break with just the single goal deficit.
An improved start to the second half saw the 'Field earn a golden opportunity to draw level when a through ball from Luke Spokes sent Louis Britton clear of the defence and take the ball around the 'keeper before somehow firing wide of the empty net ! ( - what a difference from last week !)
Thereafter we struggled to make any headway and when the unfortunate Sekani Simpson miscued an attempted clearance from a right-wing corner past Joe Perry it was 'game over'. 2-0.
Only the post on two separate occasions prevented the score-line from becoming more emphatic in favour of the home side. We now face two massive fixtures against Barnstaple and Fleet which may well decide our fate come the end of the season.
