Cobblers in seventh heaven

After a promising midweek showing against Bristol Rovers, ‘The Field’ were brought back down to earth at The Tannery as Toolstation Premier League side Street, put them to the sword in emphatic fashion.
The scoreline tells you all you need to know, as ‘The Field’ could only call upon thirteen players due to injuries and unavailability, and the game was effectively decided after only ten minutes.
Mangotsfield were overrun in midfield and were unable to make any impression up front, and once they had fallen behind, never looked like recovering. Street were always sharper and quicker to the ball.
Street’s Harry Foster & Josh Wadham both recorded hat-tricks and Craig Herrod grabbed the other.
Foster gave ‘The Cobblers’ a 6th minute lead with an audacious lob, and rounded the keeper three minutes later, for his 2nd, following a through ball from Lewis Waldy.
On the stroke of half-time, two quick strikes from Herrod & Wadham put the game out of the visitors’ reach.
Foster’s hat-trick came in the 65th minute and Wadham notched his, in the 69th & 88th minute
Last season, Street finished runners-up to Bristol Manor Farm and look to be a good bet for a strong challenge again.
For Mangotsfield Manager David Mehew, it’s going to be a very busy week, with a lot of hard work, leading up to next week’s trip to Ashton & Backwell.
If it's any consolation to Boris, back in the 1990/91 pre-season, The Field lost 0-7 at Odd Down Athletic and then went on to win the Western League title.
