In the penultimate pre-season friendly manager Richard Thompson opted to use the fixture to run the rule of a number of players as he looks to finalise his squad for the opening league fixture against Cirencester Town in two weeks time.

Mangotsfield went close to taking the lead with six minutes played when a ball in from the right found Alex Lambert whose strike from ten yards was parried behind for a corner.

Minutes later Lambert was played in on the left side of the area only to be denied by the advancing keeper who came off his line to block.

Moments later at the other end Tony Court avoided embarassment when his missed clearance from the left side of the area went unpunished as the ball was cleared away from goal to safety.

On twelve minutes Mangotsfield went a goal up after Alex Lambert was played in on the left side of the area where he slid the ball under the goalkeeper.

The home side could have levelled on fifteen minutes but faced with a one on one Tony Court came smartly off his line to smother the ball.

Mangotsfield could have added a second with twelve minutes of the half remaining when a corner from the right was flicked on by Dale Peckham and met at the far post by Liam Douglas who stabbed the ball wide from close range.

On the stroke of half time Alex Lambert put Mangotsfield two up heading home a cross from the right.

The second half saw little in the way of openings and it wasn't until fourteen minutes from time that a notable chance was created by either side, Lee Marshall hitting the foot of the right hand upright with a diving header after Chipping Sodbury failed to clear a corner from the left.

On eighty minutes Alex Lambert's surging run into the penalty area was halted when he was upended leaving the referee little option but to point to the penalty spot.

Neil Arndale stepped up to send the goalkeeper the wrong way when placing the ball into the right corner.

Chipping Sodbury should have scored a late consolation after confusion on the edge of the Mangotsfield penalty area presented Justin Bishop with an open goal only for the striker to shoot wide of the unguarded goal.

With four minutes left substitute Mike Whittington was sent clear making a run into the right side of the area where he was denied by the advancing goalkeeper.

A minute later Alex Lambert completed his hat trick latching onto a through ball to slide the ball under the goalkeeper.
