A determined and fully committed all round team performance earned Mangotsfield United a thoroughly deserved point against second placed Sholing.
Once again deprived of a number of players manager Phil Bater could only name one substitute.
Geraint Bater and Chris Astley both sat out the match serving bans whilst Tom Parrinello (unavailable) and Drew Shore (calf injury) were also ruled out.
In goal for Mangotsfield Danny Greaves made a reappearance standing in for the suspended Chris Astley.
During a bright start to what was an entertaining match despite the goalless scoreline both teams created an early chance.
With seven minutes played a fine crossfield ball from right to left picked out the run of Marvin McClean who after making ground into the penalty area was denied by Danny Greaves who blocked with his legs after advancing off his line to narrow the angle.
Within a minute Sholing goalkeeper Lee Webber comfortably dealt with Mitchell Page's speculative strike from twenty five yards.
Sholing could have taken the lead in fortunate circumstances on ten minutes after a corner from the left came off the back of Dave Marden's head, luckily for Mangotsfield straight at Danny Greaves.
Minutes later Barry Mason who proved to be a threat throughout the first half was found on the left where his pace took him away from Noah Keats into the penalty area where for the second time Danny Greaves came out on top, this time blocking with his legs at the foot of the right hand upright.
Shortly afterwards Danny Greaves was called into action twice inside a minute.
Firstly, when palming over Kevin Bewster's twenty yard free kick and then making a fine close range save from the unmarked Kevin Gibbens who when following up blazed over amid appeals that he'd been held back.
"The Boatmen" continued to press in search of an opening goal, on twenty minutes the fruitful avenue of Marvin McClean was the outlet once again, this time the wide midfielder hitting the target from an acute angle tight to the byline which Danny Greaves managed to block.
After coming through a spell of pressure Mangotsfield showed attacking intent when Luke Palmer picked up the ball in central midfield and sent Tom Piotrowski away who after showing good strength to hold off his man lifted a shot two yards over the bar.
The half ended with the visitors on the front foot, on thirty eight minutes Marvin McClean linked up with Kevin Gibbens on the left only for the Sholing skipper to shoot wide from eight yards when well placed and with time.
The final action of a half in which Sholing carried a constant threat ended with Byron Mason being picked out on the right where his low ball in flashed across the face of goal, the final touch being missing.
Sholing should have taken the lead eight minutes after the restart when a free kick from the right whipped into the near post was flicked towards the back post for the unmarked Dave Marden who hooked the ball over from close range with the goal at his mercy.
After the early scare Mangotsfield carried the greater threat for much of the second half.
Central defender Gary Colborne went close on fifty five minutes after a short corner on left saw the ball delivered with pace to the back post where Colborne headed just wide.
It was Colborne again four minutes later, this time a free kick from the right played in low was met by the centre back who shot two yards wide of the right hand upright.
On sixty two minutes Kyle Tooze showed a glimpse of his ability when picking the ball up in midfield and embarking on a jinking run from left to right before shooting straight at Lee Webber from twenty five yards.
An error at the back presented Mangotsfield with a chance to take the lead on seventy six minutes, Sholing defender Dave Marden failed to clear allowing a through ball to find Tom Piotrowski whose strike from a tight angle hit the side netting.
Manager Phil Bater opted to make Mangotsfield's only available substitution with ten minutes remaining, Sean Seavill coming on for Tom Piotrowski.
With nine minutes of the allotted ninety remaining Kyle Tooze did well when switching play to find Karim Rendall with a ball to left of the area where Rendall's first time volley forced Lee Webber into a save at the foot of his right hand upright.
Inside the final minute Sholing were denied a late winner after a corner from the right wasn't dealt with only being cleared to Byron Mason whose low shot through a crowded penalty area brought a superb save out of Danny Greaves.
During three minutes of additional time Mangotsfield came under sustained late pressure as the visitors forced four corners in succession, despite this Mangotsfield held firm for a fully merited point to become the first team to shut out Sholing in their last seven league fixtures.
