In their first outing of the pre-season Mangotsfield United's Youth Team won an eight team tournament at Hengrove Athletic.

With Brislington not being able to raise a team and having pulled out Mangotsfield's group consisted of Bishop Sutton and Bristol Manor Farm, as a result of this all group games become thirty minutes instead of the twenty minutes as originally planned.

In the first group game Mangotsfield faced Bishop Sutton, after the first half ended goalless Mangotsfield went a goal up with a penalty put away by Danny Carter. Despite coming under increasing pressure the Mangotsfield back line held strong to seal a single goal victory.

The second group game against Bristol Manor Farm saw a dominant Mangosfield side open the scoring after good work from Ben Hemmings and Joe Thomas saw the ball worked to Danny Carter scored his second of the afternoon to give Mangotsfield a half time lead.

Mangotsfield continued to dominate and just a few minutes after the restart a floating free kick from Tom Booth was calmly headed in by Jemar Collins.

Bristol Manor Farm improved after this and pulled a goal back late on with a penalty but Mangotsfield again saw the game out to come top of their group.

The semi final was an entertaining match against a Keynsham Town side which despite conceding a number of chances took the lead just before half time after a swift counter attack.

Facing a test of character Mangotsfield levelled a minute into the second half after Danny Carter beat his man and played in Liam Monelle who equalised from close range. Minutes later it was Danny Carter again providing for Liam Monelle who put Mangotsfield in front.

Late on Carter was again the provider this time for Joe Thomas as Mangotsfield reached the final with a 3 - 1 semi final victory.

The final saw Mangotsfield United face Bristol Manor Farm again. Despite the comfortable group game victory Mangotsfield faced a sterner test second time around. Bristol Manor Farm had the better chances during the first half as Mangotsfield took time to settle.

The second half saw a continued improvement with Mangotsfield unlucky on a couple of occasions. With the scores level extra time followed but despite going close the final ball against a stubborn Bristol Manor Farm defence was missing as the match went to a penalties.

A marathon session of penalties still could not separate the sides and once both teams had used all eleven penalty takers (both scoring ten of the eleven each) it was time for the first penalty taker to go again.

Bristol Manor Farm once again went first, this time Ollie Player tipped the ball onto the post and then reacted well to prevent the ball crossing the line. Danny Carter then stepped up to despatch his spot kick and earn Mangotsfield United a first piece of silverware of the season.

Squad : Ollie Player, Lloyd Halliwell, Harry Iles, Craig Baptist, Tom Booth, Liam Henderson, Ben Hemmings, George Twose, Joe Thomas, Grant Ogbourne, Harry Madge, Danny Carter, Jemar Collins, Liam Monelle.
