Chairman’s End of Season Review

As the season ends with our last game at home to Didcot Town, it’s time for a review. This season we will finish either 6th, 7th or 8th and we go into the Didcot game with 70 points. Last season we finished 14th with 48 points so there is no doubt we have progressed. However, it was hugely disappointing to be knocked out of the first round of both the FA Cup & FA Trophy this season. We are overdue a cup run and hopefully this will be rectified next season.

We started the season with new people behind the bar – Shaun & Sharon – and they have settled in well with our bar turnover rebounding from a low point. As always, we run the club on a commercial basis and so are realistic on what we can and cannot afford. We do have free diary spaces for functions over the summer months, so don’t be shy and book an event!

All the Director’s put in a huge amount of effort during the close season with the pitch being nurtured, lots of annual maintenance in the clubhouse and around the ground, not to mention renewing sponsorship deals with our commercial partners.

Every week a handful of people somehow make tremendous time commitments to keep the club moving forward. We are always looking for new faces to join in, so if you feel you can help, from minor DIY tasks to something more involved, please get in touch with me to join a team of positive people. And moving onto next season, we are running on skeleton staff on matchdays so even help for an hour or so would be very much appreciated.

I look forward to seeing you all again next season.
